At the November 2017 meeting, members overwhelmingly agreed to make a major donation to the Salvation Army Maroubra to support their ongoing work with disadvantaged groups in the community. In particular, to provide funds to upgrade their kitchen where they provide meals to many people every week.

Our members will be conducting a Plan B Blitz over the October Long Weekend to remind patrons, if you plan to drink then don’t drive. You need a Plan B. Some of our members operate courtesy buses and all patrons are encourage to utilise this service or have a Plan B to get themselves home safely.

The Accord has created an exciting education and awareness campaign to remind patrons of the law and the penalties which may apply, when a patron is asked to leave or not permitted to enter a premises. Members will be displaying the campaign material as a friendly reminder to patrons.

Other liquor accords are welcome to utilise the creative material for the campaign which includes A4 portrait, A4 landscape for digital/electronic  (below), A6 handouts and coaster artwork.

The campaign has been developed with distinctly different creative to appeal to both a youth and a mature market.

The campaign materials contain an abridged version of the law, so please be advised: The specified reasons a person can be refused entry or asked to leave, are set out under s. 77(2) of the Liquor Act. These include if a person is drunk, violent, quarrelsome, disorderly, smoking in a smoke-free area, or using or in possession of prohibited drugs. An offence is committed where a person is refused entry or is asked to leave for one of these reasons, and fails to do so or remains in the vicinity of the premises. Exceptions apply to the rules around leaving the vicinity of the premises if a person reasonably fears for their safety, needs to get transport, or lives in the area.
